Here is something that made us stop and think this week:
I watched a documentary about Warren Buffet recently. You know, there are some people in this world you just inherently root for due to their innate character and qualities. He seems like one of those people. He is a sweet, kind, curious, and humble person. Famously, even though he can buy any material item he could dream of, he has lived in the same house since 1958 and always buys used cars. He had a lot of wise words to share during the documentary, but one thing in particular really stuck with me. He said that “the stock market is a no-called-strike game. You don’t have to swing at everything. You can wait for your pitch.”
That is what we do at Spark. We don’t invest in public equities like Buffet, but we are always busy drumming up deal flow, so we see a fair amount of “pitches.” However, we patiently wait for opportunities where we can add unique value. For Spark, that means we focus on identifying companies where we know the markets well so we can help close new clients, or where we have a strong network and can strike new partnerships, or where modern management tactics can help a company use resources and capital more efficiently.
If you are considering selling your company, you can rest assured that our patient approach will maximize the probability of success for all stakeholders: you, your employees, and your clients. Please contact us to start the conversation.
